Christina Haxton Headshot

In a world where business success is often measured by numbers, Christina Haxton, CEO and founder of the Center for Sustainable Strategies (CFSS), knows that the real key to thriving organizations is mastering the people part of the equation. Transitioning from her roots as a marriage and family therapist, Christina spent years helping CEOs avoid burnout, turning her focus toward solving the people problems that hinder business strategy execution. Today, she helps organizations scale by turning interpersonal issues into opportunities for growth.

"People are people. They show up at work the way they show up at home," Christina says, acknowledging the complexities of workplace dynamics. According to her, many organizations fail at strategy execution because they overlook the "people factor." She explains, “Most CEOs think they have a people problem, but it’s really a strategy execution problem.”

Christina offers a unique blend of executive coaching and leadership development to organizations, providing them with tools and insights rooted in her background in family systems therapy. “We can't differentiate between the human at home and the human at work,” she notes. Her approach is simple but effective: solving "people problems" can prevent profit problems. She sees 2020 as a turning point when organizations realized that the need for empathy and understanding in leadership was no longer a "nice-to-have" but essential for business success.

Key Insights: One of Christina's key insights is the need for leaders to assume positive intent in their interactions with others. "Eighty-five percent of workplace conflicts stem from differences in how people instinctively approach problems," she explains. Often, people create negative stories about colleagues when, in reality, they just have different ways of getting things done. Christina’s coaching focuses on helping leaders and teams work better together by acknowledging and embracing these differences rather than letting them fester into deeper conflicts.'

Empathy as an "Essential Skill": Christina is a firm believer in empathy as an "essential skill" for modern leaders. “If you want trust and cooperation, you must show up with empathy,” she says. And this isn’t just something to aspire to—it’s a necessity for getting the best from people in today's fast-paced work environment.

Christina's Approach: Christina brings us a refreshing reminder that behind every successful strategy is a team of real people with real challenges. Her work reminds us that leadership isn't just about vision or strategy—it’s about empathy, conflict resolution, and the courage to navigate the uncomfortable moments that define the success of any organization.
